October 20th-23rd. Quito
After almost a month in Ecuador we reached Quito. The city is huge: took us almost as long to get to our hostel as to get to Quito from Machachi.
We spent fisrt day running around La Mariscal, a barrio where all the bars, restaurants, hostels and well gringo life is. We were trying to repair Liza'ls camera (successfully). I also got my hair cut. Too short. Sorrow. But good. No more haircuts in Latin America!
Next morning we planned to go for a free walking tour. Until the next morning. But, as the weather was nice, our plan suddenly changed and we ended up climbing a hill for Teleferico (cable car). Then we found out that it cost 9$ and did not go, but missed the Free tour.
So we went to La Mitad del Mundo instead. The Middle of the World. It is where Ecuator is.
There are 2: one that was measured by French team in the beginning of XX century and is 200m off, another one is measured by GPS and by ancient people, which is the true Ecuator. This is where they do fun stuff with law of Physics and shadows are very short.
Unfortinately, we did not plan to come, so I did not have my GPS with me to chack their measurements. Sorrow.

In the evening in the pub in front of our hostel (literally!) there was a pub quiz! I spent 5 years in UK and never ever went for pub quiz. Ever! So we made a team of 5 people from our room (mostly) and off we were. Got the 5th place out of... don't know around 20. Not bad for the first time?
On Wednesday we finally went for a free walking tour, which lasted for 3 hours! Of course, we found a market, where we had breakfast/lunch. I climbed the Cathedral, which was scary: stairs were very high, steep and narrow. And open: it was outside of the tower. Great views though and insite in the Cathedral structure.
I was very lucky to come back just before a storm started. It prevented us from leaving on time, so we only left after 5pm and it took us 2 hours to get to the bus station! Big city. We were going to Otavalo, where we arrived after 10pm.
